Glass@TheForge is a collaboration of 20 contemporary glass artists from the UK, Europe, and China, bringing together glass created in all aspects of making.

The gallery is The Forge on the Isle of Dogs close to Canary Wharf. The Forge was the the iron works of Isambard Kingdom Brunel , and it was here that he created The Great Eastern. A fabulous, light, and airy space that commands you to look further than just the items of glass on show.

The Forge also acts as studios and work spaces available to rent.

Designer Crafts at the Mall 2016

I will be exhibiting eleven pieces of work at The Annual Exhibition of the Society of Designer Craftsmen, to which I am a Licentiate, at The Mall Galleries, Pall Mall, London, from the 11th - 21st August 2016.  There will be over 130 artists and craftsmen exhibiting and selling their work from all different mediums.  The Gallery is a beautiful space, just around the corner from Trafalgar Square, and easily accessible via bus, tube and main line train.  A great day to go sightseeing, with Buckingham Palace at one end of the Mall, and Nelsons Column, The National Portraight Gallery and Theatre Land at the other.

If you are fortunate to be able to attend, I will be stewarding the show on Friday 19th August, all day, and look forward to meeting and greeting members of the public whilst having the opportunity to discuss my work in further detail.

The Mayor of Farnham opened the show, which was a huge success.

Glass Art

Working Man’s College Collection

It was the first day of term January 2012, and whilst travelling to college I noticed all the beautiful flowers that were already in bloom.  It seemed surreal that any of the flowers should even be out at this time of year.  I decided to make a bouquet along my route and fuse the flowers between 2 sheets of glass when I got to college

The flowers were far to green and wet for this activity, so I had to wait a whole term for them to dry out before I was allowed to fire them in the kiln.  I embellished the glass with bright metallic mica powders just in case the flowers burnt out completely.  I also added mille fiori to create a sense of depth.

It came as a complete surprise when I won the NIACE ‘London Regional Award’ for Adult Learners Week in 2011, “The choices in education so far have given me the opportunity to find out about myself, and of my capabilities, which I never knew I possessed.  Adult Education has given me a purpose in life.”

In September 2012 I gained a placement at UCA Farnham studying for a BA(Hons) degree in 3DD Glass, Ceramics, Jewellery & Metals, following support and encouragement from my Glass Art Tutor, Katherine Hewlett. (Working Mens College, Camden, UK)
